What is a TPA?

TPA stands for “Third-Party Administrator.” A Third-Party Administrator is an organization hired to oversee the day-to-day aspects of your retirement plan, such as submission of the annual Form 5500. In some plans, the TPA and the Recordkeeper are rolled together as one. TPA fees, like others, can vary greatly.
